Using LLMs to write texts and emails?
I don’t think it’s good to use LLMs (also known as “AI”) to write your texts and emails. There’s something very twisted about the idea.
Personal digital writing is already a step removed from the meaning and benefits provided by writing personal, handwritten notes or letters. I don’t think we need to make it moreso.
No one really benefits from a text or email you wrote with “AI.” It’s safe to say that if you’re in conversation with someone, they probably want to talk to you and hear from you in your words. Sure, it might not be as flowery, but it’s your voice and that’s what matters.
Yes, there’s a time for a canned business email response or template, for sure. Even then, however, I’m of the opinion it should be customized for the recipient.
But personal emails and texts? We should use the keyboard.
