Slow down
I once heard someone say:
Don’t go through life so fast that someone has to “throw a brick at you” to get your attention.
It’s a simple reminder but a good one.
Somehow, it’s easy to get through the daily tasks with a “go, go, go” mentality. As if somehow, you can’t live in the present or make time for people in the present. That is quite obviously both draining and not a good way to live life.
It seems that by “throwing a brick”, what is meant is that we shouldn’t have to have something really serious happen to us in order to get our attention. For instance, why does someone need to pass on before we finally realize that they mattered and that we should have acknowledged them more. It’s sad and yet it happens all the time.
Going through life so fast but not really living and paying attention to what really matters, people, and your relationship with Yahweh our Heavenly Father, is not going to be fulfilling. So let’s not go through life so fast that someone (or Yahweh) has to get our attention with a brick. Let’s slow down and appreciate all the people and things Yahweh has placed into our lives. :)
