It is scary how many forms lying and deceit come in.

  • Exaggerating is lying.
  • Presenting yourself as something you’re not is lying.
  • Hiding the full truth is lying.
  • Gossip is lying.

At the base of lying in these ways is trying to gain an advantage for yourself or avoid pain in some way. It is selfish. If you go deeper still, you find the root of pride.
