Considering death makes us live
It’s amazing how clear thinking about death makes things.
It tends to strip away a lot of pretense. I think about how many people on their deathbed speak about life, some as if it’s the first time they truly considered what is really important in life.
Solomon, in his wisdom, saw the benefits of thinking about death:
It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
(Ecclesiastes 7:2)
Considering death seems to help us live.
