The amazing creativity of faces
I’ve been studying and drawing the human face for portraiture, and of course in order to draw accurately, one must observe closely.
One thing that awes me is how much variety there is in human faces. Yahweh our Heavenly Father was very creative when He created us. He could have just made one face for everyone having the same skin color, length of nose, eyes, ears, mouth, eyebrows, hair, and so on —but He didn’t.
Yahweh created each face with variations of skin tone, eye color, noses, chin, head shape, etc.
It’s true that some groups of variations in a face are commonly considered to be more pleasant to look at, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t see the beauty and creativity in every face. Every face is a story. Even wrinkles and blemishes have character that reflects the individual.
No variation is any less creative —each variation is an amazing act of Yahweh’s creativity.
Every face has character, a uniqueness that is one-of-a-kind. Sure, some faces appear similar, but with observation you can see that each face has differences that make it stand alone.
And I love it —it gets me excited because its so creative!
