Pruning to bear better fruit
In orchard husbandry, branches of fruit trees are pruned so that more energy and nutrients can go into the fruit on the main branches. This does result in less quantity of fruit, but it makes the fruit that is produced larger, juicer, healthier, and overall better.
Likewise, in life, it seems that if you spread yourself too thinly across activities and tasks, it is not only draining and unproductive but can also result in an unsatisfying outcome.
This is something I’m learning as one who has a habit for working on many things at once. In many cases, choosing depth over breadth is better.
I’m learning to consider and prune so that I can focus and bear that “better fruit.”
