The reality of entreprenuership
The reality of entrepreneurship, is that it cannot be thought of in the same way as a job working for someone else.
I don’t think I could describe the constant question looming when running your own software-based business better than the following comment someone made:
“One of the biggest mental blocks to overcome is the risk that I’m working really hard on something (even if it’s just the current feature) that will end up having no real value. That I’m working on the wrong thing. As an engineer employed by someone else, technically everything I work on is the “right thing” because was told to build it, and I got paid for it. If it fails for business reasons, it’s not really my responsibility. An an entrepreneur, it’s definitely my responsibility, and as a bootstrapped business, I lost all that time and income potential if it’s the wrong thing to build. That’s a tough risk to take.”
